Complementing the large disc brakes is Eclipse’s Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), which helps prevent wheel lock to give drivers the ability to maneuver around obstacles while still stopping a quickly as possible. To further increase safety, Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) adjusts the braking force between the front and rear wheels to minimize stopping distances even when carrying passengers or cargo.

The driver and front passenger are protected by an advanced array of SRS airbags, including front airbags, seat-mounted side airbags, and roof-mounted side curtain airbags. Deploying in the event of a collision, they help to protect front occupants from injury.

Eclipse 3800 GT features Mitsubishi’s Traction Contro (TCL) system, which modulates engine and braking power to prevent wheel spin during rapid acceleration or when accelerating over slick surfaces. The Active Stability Control (ASC) system works to keep Eclipse on track by detecting over steer and under steer and applying braking force exactly where it’s needed.
